World Leaders, United Nations, EU Praise Pakistan for Ending US-Iran War

Pakistan has earned international recognition for its critical role in arranging a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran as authorities no prepare for table talks in Islamabad on Friday.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday thanked key nations for their support, naming China, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar, while also acknowledging the broader international community for recognizing Pakistan’s efforts.

“We thank all our partners and friends across the globe who have reached out and acknowledged Pakistan’s sincere efforts for global peace,” Sharif said.

Global reactions across X showed the cross-regional acclaim for Pakistan’s diplomacy. Iran directly thanked Pakistan’s leadership. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi commended Prime Minister Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

European nations including Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Norway, along with Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Türkiye, praised Islamabad’s mediation.

Major governing bodies such as the European Union and the United Nations also conveyed appreciation. They called Pakistan’s role “effective, strategic, and constructive.”

Other countries, including Japan and Indonesia joined in brief expressions of support.

This was a rare diplomatic achievement that has elevated Pakistan’s international standing and demonstrated its ability to engage both sides, regardless of the tense, highly toxic situation.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres applauded the announcement of a two-week ceasefire by the United States and Iran. He expresses sincere appreciation for the efforts of Pakistan and other countries involved in facilitating the ceasefire.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU Council President António Costa also appreciated Pakistan for arranging the truce.

The Strait of Hormuz is now also open for all vessels for a two-week period.
