Advocacy group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has announced the nomination of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and United States Vice President J.D. Vance for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2027 for their roles in arranging a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
According to a statement issued by SFJ, the nomination was submitted to the Nobel Committee on the grounds that both leaders played key diplomatic and political roles in reducing the risk of a broader regional conflict.
SFJ leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun claimed that Field Marshal Asim Munir engaged in what he described as “command diplomacy”. The army chief maintained direct communication channels with decision-makers in Washington and Tehran at a critical moment.
The group added that these efforts contributed to de-escalation when international institutions like the United Nations struggled to produce immediate results.
The nomination also credits US Vice President J.D. Vance with making critical political decisions in ending hostilities and supporting diplomatic engagement to avoid further armed confrontation.
SFJ said the recommendations were based on what it described as a successful intervention that helped prevent major military incidents, reduced the threat of wider war, and contributed to regional stability.
There has been no official confirmation from the Nobel Committee regarding the nomination process, as nominations remain confidential under Nobel rules for several decades.
Neither Pakistani nor US authorities have formally responded to the announcement yet.
