Pakistan is expected to experience intermittent internet slowdowns starting tomorrow (today) for as long as a week as major maintenance work is carried out on an international submarine cable system.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) informed its customers that a scheduled repair operation is being conducted by an international submarine cable consortium to fix a fault in one of its undersea communication lines.
The maintenance activity is set to begin on 14 April 2026 and may continue until 20 April 2026. During this period, users across Pakistan could face degraded internet performance, particularly during evening peak hours when traffic load is highest.
PTCL stated that while efforts will be made to minimize disruption, some level of service impact is unavoidable due to the scale of the repair work on the global cable network.
The company apologized for the inconvenience and advised users to expect temporary fluctuations in connectivity during the maintenance window.
