PSO Appoints Jawwad Ahmed Cheema as New CEO

Pakistan State Oil Company Limited has announced the appointment of Jawwad Ahmed Cheema as its new Chief Executive Officer for a three-year term, effective May 18, 2026.

In a formal notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, PSO said the decision was approved by its Board of Management. Mr. Cheema will succeed interim CEO, Abdus Sami.

Mr. Cheema brings over 28 years of experience in the downstream energy sector, including nearly two decades in senior corporate leadership roles across Asia Pacific, Europe, and South Asia. His expertise covers retail fuels, lubricants, storage infrastructure, supply chain management, strategy, and international portfolio operations.

A major part of his career was spent with Royal Dutch Shell, where he served for 26 years in increasingly senior roles across Pakistan, Indonesia, Singapore, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. He previously served as Managing Director and CEO of Shell Pakistan Limited, where he led the company through a period of strategic and operational transformation.

His international roles also included Vice President of Strategy and Portfolio at Shell International in The Hague and Vice President of Shell Business Operations in Singapore, where he oversaw global portfolio strategy and business process transformation.

Most recently, Mr. Cheema served as CEO of Karachi Hydrocarbon Terminal, which manages one of Pakistan’s key petroleum import and distribution terminals at Port Qasim.
