US President Donald Trump was forced to delete an AI-generated image of himself as Jesus Christ after brutal public outrage online.
The post triggered widespread criticism online. Many called out Trump for using sacred religious symbolism for political messaging and self-promotion.
The image depicted Trump in a stylized scene reminiscent of biblical healing artwork. Many people on X called it disrespectful and inappropriate, while his Make America Great Again (MAGA) supporters dismissed the backlash as an overreaction.
Following the outrage, Trump deleted the post and publicly distanced himself from the imagery. He later commented that the upload had been intended as humor and acknowledged that sharing it had been a mistake.
“I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor,” he told reporters earlier in the day.
Regardless, his little stunt also reignited debate over how political figures use sensitive content to energize supporters while risking reputational damage.
