The Government of Balochistan has made tenant registration mandatory across the province, including the provincial capital, as part of efforts to strengthen law and order.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting reviewing the security situation, officials said. Adviser to the home department, Babar Khan Yousafzai, confirmed that no individual will be allowed to rent property without a valid national identity card.
Under the Balochistan Restriction of Rented Buildings (Security) Act, landlords are now required to verify tenants’ CNICs and register them with the local police.
Authorities have also directed that guests staying for more than 24 hours must be reported to the relevant police station in advance.
Administrators of hostels, hotels, and other rental facilities have been instructed to maintain complete records of occupants.
Officials warned that strict legal action will be taken against violations, including registration of cases and possible sealing of properties.
The move aims to improve surveillance, curb suspicious activities, and enhance overall security in the province.
