KP to Complete Rs. 27 Billion Road Project This Year

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday reviewed progress on the Peshawar Northern Bypass Project during a meeting at the Governor House.

Officials from the National Highway Authority, including Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ashfaq Ahmed and Project Director Muhammad Ahtesham, briefed the governor on the status of the project.

They said the 30-kilometer project, estimated at Rs. 27 billion, aims to ease traffic congestion in Peshawar. According to the briefing, key structural components, including six bridges and the Nasir Bagh flyover, have already been completed.

Officials said Package-II of the project is expected to be completed by September 2026, followed by Package-I in December 2026. They added that Rs. 23 billion has been spent so far, while an additional Rs. 4 billion is required to complete the project. Delays in the release of funds could affect the timeline, they said.

The briefing also noted that funds for power transmission lines have already been transferred to the relevant department.  The governor described the project as vital for public convenience and said he would raise the issue of pending funds with the concerned authorities.

He emphasized that timely completion of the bypass would provide significant relief to residents of Peshawar and other parts of the province.
