Russia Introduces Online Application System for Skilled Foreign Workers

Russia has launched a new digital service allowing foreign nationals to apply for residency and employment opportunities under its “impatriation” program aimed at attracting skilled professionals from abroad.

The initiative targets individuals with in-demand skills and expertise who are willing to relocate permanently to Russia.

Applicants are also expected to demonstrate respect for traditional Russian values as part of the eligibility criteria.

Under the program, candidates are required to complete a structured online application process.

This includes submitting a CV, a short autobiography, and supporting documents such as diplomas, certificates, and publications that verify their qualifications.

After submission, applicants undergo a review process followed by an online interview with program officials to assess their professional background and achievements.

The maximum decision period is 125 days.

Successful applicants are granted “impatriate” status and receive support for relocation, including visa procedures, housing assistance, and guidance on settling in Russia.

Each approved candidate is assigned a personal manager to assist with administrative and social integration.

Those who are not approved can still apply for other visa categories, including highly qualified specialist or tourist visas, and may reapply after one year.

The program is part of Russia’s broader effort to attract international talent and support skilled migration into the country.
