Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has revived the long-delayed M-12 Motorway project, turning it into a priority infrastructure scheme aimed at improving connectivity and supporting economic growth.
The project will connect Sambrial with Kharian, and is being moved forward through coordinated efforts involving the Public Private Partnership Authority, National Highway Authority of Pakistan, and the Ministry of Communications Pakistan.
According to an official update shared on X, the six-lane motorway will become an important part of Pakistan’s North-South Motorway Network.
For simple context, the road will link Sambrial, which is the terminus of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, with Kharian, helping improve movement for both commuters and commercial transport.
The project is expected to cut travel time on key routes, improve logistics, and strengthen trade and industrial connections in the region. Officials say the motorway will also help connect industrial hubs with population centers, which could support local businesses and economic activity.
