Sindh to Introduce New Student Attendance System in Schools

The Sindh cabinet has approved a new student attendance monitoring system to improve school attendance and reduce dropout rates across the province. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, where officials briefed the cabinet on the proposed system.

Under the plan, each student will be assigned a unique identification number, and schools will be required to record daily attendance through a mobile application. Officials said the system is designed to track attendance in real time and address absenteeism.

The chief minister said teachers will receive alerts in cases of continuous absenteeism, while monitoring will be carried out through live dashboards at the provincial and district levels.

He added that the system will operate through teachers’ mobile phones, and data expenses will be included in school budgets.

The cabinet was also briefed on a proposal to award 20,000 scholarships for public university students, with a focus on equipping youth with skills aligned with the digital market.
