Motorola has introduced the Moto G87 as the latest addition to its G-series lineup and the successor to the Moto G77. The new model brings a sharper display, upgraded camera hardware, stronger durability protection, and Android 16 out of the box.
It is also the first-ever Moto G series phone to bring a high-resolution 200MP camera.
Design And Display
The Moto G87 features a 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED display with a 1272 x 2772 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola said the panel offers 17% higher resolution than standard Full HD displays and can reach up to 5,000 nits peak brightness. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
For durability, the phone carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It is also MIL-STD-810H certified and rated to survive drops of up to 1.2 meters. The device measures 164.58 x 77.37 x 7.38mm and weighs 183g. The Motorola Moto G87 comes in Pantone Overture Gray and Pantone Blue Atoll colors.
Internals And Software
The Moto G87 is powered by the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor. It uses two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2GHz, paired with an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
The phone is available with 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. It also supports microSD expansion up to 2TB. Motorola includes RAM Boost technology, which can virtually expand memory up to 24GB. The device runs Android 16.
Motorola said the speakers deliver up to 280% louder output than the previous generation.
Cameras
The Moto G87’s main upgrade is its rear camera system. It includes a 200MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization and Ultra Pixel technology. Motorola said the sensor improves light sensitivity by 16 times for low-light photography.
The camera also supports 2x lossless zoom. The rear setup is completed by an 8MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. For selfies and video calls, the phone uses a 32MP front camera.
Camera features include Auto Smile Capture, Portrait Mode at 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm focal lengths, and Google Photos tools such as Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Reimagine, and Auto Frame.
Battery And Pricing
