Jazz Completes SDM Virtualization with Nokia, Accelerating Its Cloud-Native Network Transformation

Jazz, Pakistan’s leading connectivity provider from JazzWorld, in collaboration with Nokia, has successfully completed the virtualization of its Subscriber Data Management (SDM) platform, marking a significant step in its network modernization journey. The migration was completed seamlessly with zero disruption to customer services, underscoring Jazz’s engineering excellence and commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and uninterrupted digital experiences to millions of customers across Pakistan.

Powered by Nokia’s on-premises cloud-native Subscriber Data Layer (SDL), this transformation replaces legacy subscriber data management systems with a highly scalable and resilient architecture, marking a defining milestone in Jazz’s network evolution. By modernizing its HLR and HSS infrastructure into a unified, stateless database engine, Jazz is eliminating architectural silos and creating a more agile and efficient subscriber data management environment.

Speaking on the achievement, Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer at JazzWorld, said, “The successful virtualization of our Subscriber Data Management platform marks an important milestone in Jazz’s journey toward a fully cloud-native network. By modernizing this critical component of our core infrastructure, we are strengthening network resilience, improving operational agility, and creating a scalable foundation for future technologies. Together with Nokia, we are building a network that enables faster innovation and superior digital experiences for our customers.”

Hatem El Harairi, Vice President and Head of MEA Services, Mobile Infrastructure at Nokia added, “Our collaboration with Jazz reflects Nokia’s role as a trusted partner in advancing the connectivity that underpins the AI era. By supporting Jazz’s network modernization journey, we are helping to strengthen the performance, resilience and agility of its critical infrastructure, while creating a foundation for continued innovation and the evolution toward more intelligent, cloud-native networks.”

As demand for digital connectivity and data-driven services continues to grow, modernizing core network infrastructure has become essential to delivering superior customer experiences while enabling the rapid deployment of new digital services. This achievement reflects Jazz’s continued investment in next-generation technologies that enhance network resilience, improve operational efficiency, and support Pakistan’s accelerating digital transformation.

This latest milestone builds on the long-standing collaboration between Jazz and Nokia, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing network technologies that drive innovation, enhance customer experiences, and accelerate Pakistan’s transition toward a more connected, intelligent, and digitally empowered future.
