Flour prices have increased sharply across Pakistan over the past week, with the cost of a 20kg bag rising by as much as Rs. 200 in several cities, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Karachi remains the most expensive city, where a 20kg bag is being sold for up to Rs. 2,500, while Lahore offers the lowest rate at around Rs. 1,810.
The largest increases were recorded in Hyderabad and Larkana, where prices rose by Rs. 200 per bag, followed by Sargodha with an increase of Rs. 190 and Sukkur at Rs. 160. Prices also went up by Rs. 133 in Multan, while Karachi and Khuzdar saw increases of up to Rs. 100.
Other cities also recorded notable increases, including Rs. 90 in Quetta, Rs. 67 in Islamabad, Rs. 66 in Gujranwala, and Rs. 40 in Rawalpindi, indicating a broad upward trend.
In terms of current prices, Quetta stands at Rs. 2,450, Hyderabad at Rs. 2,440, Islamabad at Rs. 2,373, and Peshawar at Rs. 2,350, while Bannu and Khuzdar are around Rs. 2,300.
Prices are reported at Rs. 2,347 in Rawalpindi, Rs. 2,250 in Faisalabad, and Rs. 2,200 in Sukkur and Larkana. Gujranwala, Multan, and Sialkot are at Rs. 2,133, while Bahawalpur is at Rs. 2,067 and Sargodha at Rs. 2,000.
