Govt Approves Special Funds to Celebrate 10 May Air Combat Thrashing of India

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved a wide-ranging set of financial measures across multiple sectors, including education, energy, industry, and public administration.

Among the key decisions, the committee sanctioned Rs. 59.624 million for expenditures related to the Independence Day and Marqa-e-Haq 2025 celebrations, as proposed by the National Heritage and Culture Division.

The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, at the Finance Division.

Overall, the ECC approved Technical Supplementary Grants (TSGs) worth approximately Rs. 301 crore (Rs. 3.01 billion) covering several development and administrative projects.

The committee approved Rs. 100 million for the construction of the Faiz Ahmad Faiz Complex in Narowal to support cultural and educational infrastructure development. It also cleared Rs. 350 million for Danish School Kuri, Islamabad, aimed at meeting operational requirements and sustaining academic activities after the commencement of classes.

In addition, Rs. 59.624 million was approved for national-level Independence Day and Marqa-e-Haq 2025 celebrations, reflecting funding support for cultural and commemorative activities.

The committee also endorsed the revival of National Steel Complex Limited (NSCL) by allowing gas supply for industrial operations and captive power generation at applicable tariffs, subject to availability. It further directed the development of a uniform policy framework for similar approvals in the future.

In the power sector, the ECC approved the uniform application of Use of System Charges (UoSC) across all distribution companies, including K-Electric, under the Competitive Trading Bilateral Contract Market (CTBCM), aimed at ensuring a level playing field in the electricity market.

Separately, a Rs. 2.5 billion grant was approved for the Directorate General Immigration & Passports to cover operational costs, including salaries, production materials, and outstanding liabilities during FY 2025–26.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers including Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Rana Tanveer Hussain (virtually), and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan, along with senior officials from relevant ministries and regulatory bodies.

The ECC emphasized timely implementation of approved measures and strict adherence to policy frameworks to ensure effective execution and fiscal discipline.
