NAB Recovers Rs. 6 Billion Land From Bahria Town

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has recovered 80 acres of government land allegedly illegally allotted to Bahria Town in Hyderabad, according to an official statement.

Prime land in Hyderabad reclaimed

The recovered land, valued at Rs6 billion, is located in Deh Ganjo Takkar within the Gulshan-i-Sarmast housing scheme.

NAB stated that Bahria Town had obtained possession of the land through an alleged illegal allotment at a significantly lower price of Rs. 383 million, which was also not fully paid.

Allotment terms violated

According to the bureau, the land was originally allocated for the establishment of a university. However, Bahria Town failed to meet the conditions attached to the allotment.

Following NAB’s intervention, the Hyderabad Development Authority cancelled the allotment and repossessed the land, forfeiting the partially paid amount.

Ongoing legal action

The development comes amid broader legal proceedings involving Malik Riaz and other individuals.

Last week, an accountability court issued perpetual arrest warrants against Malik Riaz, his son, and others in connection with a land grab case.

NAB had earlier filed a reference in 2025 against Bahria Town owners, government officials, and political figures over alleged illegal transfer and conversion of government land for private housing projects.
