The Government of Sindh has announced a Rs515 million fuel subsidy package for fishermen affected by rising diesel prices.
Speaking in Sujawal, Fisheries Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani said the financial assistance will cover two months of fuel expenses through a one-time payment.
Fishing activity drops by 20%
The minister revealed that increasing diesel costs have led to a 20% decline in fishing activity, putting the livelihoods of thousands of fishermen at risk.
Subsidy distribution details
Under the package:
9,634 registered boat owners will receive financial aid
Owners of large boats will get Rs200,000 per boat
Owners of small boats will receive Rs100,000 per boat
Digital and transparent system
The subsidy will be distributed through a digital system to ensure transparency.
Fishermen have been directed to:
- Complete online registration
- Link their details with the Karachi Fisheries Harbor Authority

Officials say the initiative aims to support the fishing community facing rising operational costs and protect livelihoods dependent on the sector.
