Pakistan Petroleum Limited has announced the successful commissioning of the Faiz X-1 Deep (Basal Sand) well located in the Gambat South Block.
According to a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the well was originally drilled in 2014 but could not be developed earlier due to the absence of nearby pipeline infrastructure, which made the project commercially unviable.
The company said the project became feasible following the establishment of connectivity with pipelines linked to other wells and after a detailed technical and economic re evaluation of the reservoir.
PPL subsequently carried out well intervention and surface facility works to bring the well into production.Commissioning activities included isolation of deeper intervals, well intervention jobs, installation of surface facilities, and construction of approximately 4.5 kilometers of feeder pipeline to connect the well with the existing gas gathering network for onward delivery to the Gambat South Gas Processing Facilities.
The company said the well was commissioned on February 25, 2026 and production was gradually ramped up. According to the disclosure, the well is currently producing around 3.6 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and 750 barrels per day of condensate following optimization of operational parameters.
PPL stated that the additional condensate and gas production reflects the company’s strategy to monetize discoveries in a cost effective manner while contributing toward Pakistan’s energy requirements.
The development comes as Pakistan continues efforts to increase domestic oil and gas production to reduce dependence on imported energy amid ongoing external account pressures and rising energy demand.
In recent months, exploration and production companies operating in Pakistan have intensified drilling, appraisal, and production enhancement activities across multiple blocks to improve indigenous hydrocarbon output and support energy security.
Pakistan Petroleum Limited is one of the country’s largest exploration and production companies and has been involved in major oil and gas discoveries across Pakistan for decades.
