The Education of girls is at the heart of all our socio-economic issues. It is not just necessary, but a means of strengthening the foundation of the entire family and society at large. In a country like ours, where societal norms, culture, and family traditions have a profound impact, a stereotypical approach towards gender biased education needs to go through a massive transformation.
In today’s era, when the world is rapidly advancing, it is important for us to understand how a woman with education can change not only her own life but also her home, her children, and the entire society.
First of all, education not only teaches a woman how to read and write, but also how to think and behave. When a girl learns to read and write, she begins to understand the world around her and the challenges associated with it, and most importantly, how to cope with them. In a nutshell, she understands life’s issues better. In Pakistan, it’s often seen that domestic decisions are in the hands of men, but women can also share valuable opinions, adding a fresh angle to the decision-making process. Her insightful suggestions often prove helpful in making better decisions for the family.
The second important point concerns health. A sane woman is more aware of her own health and that of her children. She understands the importance of clean water, food, and hygiene. Ignorance is often the root cause of childhood illnesses in rural Pakistan. If a mother is conscious of basic health risks, she makes informed decisions regarding vaccinations, nutrition, and hygiene. This has a direct impact on the health and upbringing of her children, ultimately forming the foundation of a harmonious and balanced family.
When it comes to the well-being of a family or society at large. Usually, it all boils down to the financial issues. In today’s world, inflation and unemployment are on the rise. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to run a family on a single person’s income. If a woman is able to earn money, she can help her family in some way, whether she works outside the home, works from home, or starts her own small business. Many women in Pakistan support their families through tailoring, online freelancing, teaching, or thr handicrafts. For that to happen, women should be educated and skilled to meet the challenges of practical life. This is not just about earning money; it also boosts a woman’s confidence. She becomes an important part of the family.
Furthermore, knowledgeable mothers can also place greater emphasis on their children’s learning. Research and experience have shown that children of educated mothers do better in studies. Mothers help children with their studies. She becomes a great source of motivation for her children. In Pakistan, where school dropout rates are high in many areas, educated mothers can play a major role in the early education of children. One of the greatest benefits of an educated mother is that she recognizes the importance of sending her daughters to school.
Speaking of contemporary traditions, freedom makes women aware of their rights and responsibilities. In many parts of Pakistan, women are still denied their basic rights. But when a woman is empowered through education, she can stand up for her rights and speak out against oppression and injustice. This not only improves her own life but also sets an example for her children. In such a family, children learn the principles of equality, dignity, and justice, which ultimately lead to a balanced society.
An educated woman understands her emotions better. And knows how to handle stress. This brings emotional stability within the home. She demonstrates patience and understanding in raising children and dealing with her husband, maintaining a peaceful atmosphere at home. In Pakistan, where joint family systems often exist. Balancing relationships between different individuals is never easy. An intelligent and understanding woman proves to be very helpful in maintaining this balance.
Nowadays, technology has made education accessible. No matter where you live. Online education and remote learning have broken the barriers. Distance learning is now possible. Many women in Pakistan are not only educating themselves but also earning money online from home, which was previously impossible.
When you educate a woman, you are actually educating an entire family. An educated woman is a mother, a wife, a daughter, and a responsible citizen. She becomes the source of balance, order, and progress. It would not be wrong to say that investing in girls’ education is a social investment that could pave the way for a stronger nation.
It’s time we change our thinking and understand that a young woman is never a burden. But the foundation of a bright, balanced, and worthwhile family. If we want to see a balanced and progressive society in Pakistan, we must make girls’ education our priority. This is not just a slogan, but a necessity. Every girl who goes to school carries with her the hope of a bright future, not just for herself, but for her entire family.
