Farmers Lose Sleep After Fertilizer Prices Near Rs. 16,000 per Bag in Pakistan

Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (FFC) has increased the price of its Sona Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer after big pressure from global fertilizer markets.

The company has raised the price by Rs. 400 per bag, taking it to Rs. 15,633 from the previous Rs15,233, effective May 12.

This marks another upward revision after a similar increase announced a few weeks ago.

The latest hike is mainly driven by rising international Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) prices, as global fertilizer markets remain volatile amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

With the latest adjustment, the cumulative increase in Sona DAP prices has reached Rs. 1,624 per bag since the recent upward trend began.

The continued rise is expected to increase input costs for farmers ahead of upcoming crop seasons and may affect fertilizer demand.
