KP Assembly Passes Bill for Special Courts to Protect Properties of Overseas Pakistanis

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday passed an important bill for the establishment of special courts to protect the properties of overseas Pakistanis.

In this regard, Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam presented the KP Establishment of Special Courts for Overseas Pakistanis Property Bill 2026 before the assembly for approval.

Under the bill, special courts will be established across the province to deal with illegal occupation of overseas Pakistanis properties and ensure the speedy resolution of disputes.

Judges for these courts will be appointed in consultation with the Peshawar High Court. According to the law, overseas Pakistanis will be able to submit applications online, while facilities will also be provided for recording testimonies and statements through video links.

The special courts will be bound to decide each case within 120 days, while a 15-day period has been fixed for filing appeals against decisions.

The bill also includes modern measures such as preventing the illegal transfer of property, assisting in the recovery of rents, and sending court notices through mobile phones, email, and mosques.

Furthermore, all pending cases related to the properties of overseas Pakistanis in the province will be transferred to the new special courts.

According to the government, this law will restore the confidence of overseas Pakistanis and provide effective legal protection for their properties.
