Construction of bus stop sheds for Rawalpindi’s expanding electric bus network is expected to finish within a week, paving the way for the launch of e-bus services at Marqa-i-Haq Square, previously known as Kutchery Chowk.
According to district administration officials, six bus bays are being developed in front of Fatima Jinnah Women University, the District Courts main gate, Marqa-i-Haq Monument, the Police Monument on Old Airport Road, the State Bank of Pakistan on The Mall, and Gymkhana on Rashid Minhas Road.
Officials said finishing work is still underway on the drainage system, lighting, footpaths, service roads, and the Annexe Chowk underpass near Jinnah Park, which is expected to open within a week.
More than 35 additional electric buses are expected to arrive in the garrison city, while the Punjab Mass Transit Authority plans to increase the operational fleet from 45 to 80 buses within a month.
Authorities said commuters will be able to travel from Rawat T-Chowk to District Courts and from Koral Chowk to Soan Bridge, the Motorway, Rawalpindi Railway Station, and Saddar after the new routes become operational.
Officials added that a new route from Saddar to Hamrahi Bus Stop will also be launched, improving access to the Soan River area and Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench.

As always Chakri Road will be ignored this time too. It seems that after building electric bus terminals on Chakri Road, the government has forgotten that bus service was also supposed to be started there.
