Amazon has added a new Alexa+ feature that can generate podcast-style audio episodes on demand.
The feature, called Alexa Podcasts, allows users to ask Alexa+ for an audio episode on almost any topic. Amazon says the tool can create episodes in minutes without requiring users to upload documents or prepare source material.
How Alexa Podcasts Work
Users can give Alexa+ a topic, and the assistant will collect relevant information before showing an outline of what the episode will cover.
Before generating the episode, users can adjust the direction and length of the discussion through conversation. Once approved, Alexa+ creates the recording using AI-generated host voices.
The Verge reported that the feature uses a pair of AI-generated hosts to discuss the chosen topic. Amazon’s examples include episodes about the Roman Empire, new music releases, World Cup expectations, the Apollo missions, and hobbies such as photography.
Sources and News Partners
Amazon says Alexa Podcasts draws from more than 200 news publications and other sources to provide current information.
The company has partnered with major publishers, including the Associated Press, Reuters, The Washington Post, TIME, Forbes, Business Insider, Politico, USA Today, and publications from Condé Nast, Hearst, and Vox. It also uses content from more than 200 local US newspapers.
NEW: Amazon’s Alexa+ can now generate AI “podcasts” hosted by two robot co-hosts.

Where Users Can Listen
When an episode is ready, users receive a notification on their Echo Show device and in the Alexa app.
They can tap the notification to start listening. They can also find the episode later in the Music and More section on the Echo Show or play it through the Alexa app while away from home.
Topics Users Can Request
Amazon says users can create episodes for several use cases.
They can ask for trending news explainers, sports recaps, music updates, movie discussions, travel guides, career lessons, or educational topics for families. Amazon also listed examples such as Rome’s ancient history, Tokyo’s cultural traditions, Chicago’s architecture, Machu Picchu, homebrewing, drone photography, sourdough baking, content creation, and pickleball strategy.
More Custom Audio May Follow
Amazon said it is also exploring more custom audio options for Alexa+.
The company said future versions could include personalized news briefings and audio content based on information or documents that users choose to share.
Availability
Alexa Podcasts is available to Alexa+ customers in the US.
Alexa+ is included at no extra cost for Amazon Prime members in the US. Non-Prime users can access the full Alexa+ service for $19.99 per month, while Amazon also offers a limited free tier through Alexa.com and the Alexa app.
