Google AI Training Now Mandatory for All IT Ministry Staff

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has made Google AI training mandatory for all employees, a big step toward integrating artificial intelligence skills into Pakistan’s public sector workforce.

Under the initiative, Google will provide free AI training to employees across all departments of the ministry.

The program is designed to equip officials with practical knowledge of artificial intelligence technologies and help them incorporate emerging digital tools into administrative, operational and policy-related work.

The training will improve institutional efficiency, enhance productivity and promote a more technology-driven culture within the public sector.

According to ministry officials, the program focuses on capacity building and familiarizing employees with modern AI applications that are increasingly transforming workplaces around the world.

The initiative is also expected to support the government’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation and improve service delivery through the adoption of advanced technologies.

The decision was finalized following a meeting between a Google delegation and Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

During the discussions, both sides agreed to collaborate on promoting AI education and digital skills development, with a particular focus on strengthening human capital within Pakistan’s technology ecosystem.

The initiative reflects a growing global trend of governments investing in AI literacy and workforce development as artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly important driver of productivity, innovation and economic growth.

By making the training mandatory, the ministry aims to ensure that its workforce remains prepared for the opportunities and challenges presented by the next wave of technological advancement.
