Samsung and Google Unveil AI Smart Glasses With Real Time Translation

Samsung and Google have offered the first official look at their upcoming AI-powered smart glasses at Google I/O 2026.

Samsung first announced in October last year that it was developing the wearable in collaboration with Google and eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The glasses will run on Android XR and will arrive in two different designs, with one created by Gentle Monster and the other by Warby Parker.

Gemini Access Through Voice Commands

Google and Samsung said the glasses will provide hands-free access to Gemini through voice commands.

Users will be able to ask for turn-by-turn navigation, discover nearby places, and receive personalized recommendations in real time.

The glasses will also support productivity features. Users will be able to place orders, view summarized message notifications, create calendar events, and perform other tasks.

Translation and Camera Features

The Android XR smart glasses will support real-time translation during conversations.

The built-in camera and AI features will also allow users to translate text and signs instantly. In addition, users will be able to capture photos and videos through the glasses.

Like most smart glasses currently available, the device will work as a companion wearable that pairs with a smartphone.

Google and Samsung have not yet shared detailed hardware specifications.

However, official images show the glasses with a single camera and an LED indicator light.

Launch Timeline

The AI-powered smart glasses developed by Samsung and Google are scheduled to launch later this fall.

The companies are expected to share more details in the coming months.
