Expected Completion Date Announced for Major Motorway

The government has accelerated work on the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway, with three northern sections of the long-delayed M-6 project expected to be completed between March and May 2029.

According to official documents, progress is moving ahead on Sections III, IV and V, which cover the Nawabshah-to-Sukkur stretch of the motorway.

Sections IV and V, covering Naushero Feroz-Ranipur and Ranipur-Sukkur, are being financed by the Islamic Development Bank.

The prequalification notice for both sections was published on December 13, 2025, while the prequalification evaluation report was submitted to the lender on March 18, 2026. Civil works contracts for the two sections are expected to be awarded between September and October this year.

The Islamic Development Bank had approved $475 million in financing for the two sections on September 29, 2025. The financing agreement between Pakistan and the lender was signed on January 19, 2026.

Section III, which runs from Nawabshah to Naushero Feroz, is being financed by the OPEC Fund. Bidding documents for the section were sent to the lender on January 26, 2026 for concurrence, and discussions on comments have continued since then.

Final approval is still awaited, but authorities expect the bid to be advertised this month, with contract award targeted for October 2026.

The OPEC Fund Board approved $230 million for Section III on March 25, 2026.

Meanwhile, Sections I and II, covering Hyderabad-Tando Adam and Tando Adam-Nawabshah, will be developed under a public-private partnership model already cleared by ECNEC.

The Public Private Partnership Authority had approved the hiring of an international financial institution as transaction adviser in September 2025, while the NHA Board later cleared the Asian Development Bank’s proposal in March 2026. A transaction advisory services agreement was signed with the ADB on April 21, 2026.

The ADB is expected to complete its advisory study within four months, while the concession award for the two southern sections is anticipated by February 2027.

  • It’s good to know as the road network emerges important for prompt access. As of now it took lot of time and very tedious and time taking journey from sukkur to karachi, hopping it will stretch half of its time

  • It will Never Be Made. For the last 15 years we have been listening and reading the news but Nothing has happened. In the end All the Money will be gone and the This Motorway will Never be Made.

  • I hope the fund are not diverted to some other project in Punjab by federal govt like it happened in in 2025.
Mostly the Sindh section of of every national highway is of poor quality, I hope this trend changes. In the case of N-5 there is a noticeable difference, once we enter punjab. Highways in punjab are better managed both infrastructure wise and traffic management wise.
Though on motorway the tranquillity, the beautiful topography of my beloved Sindh running next to me wil be missed.

  • For Allah SWT ‘s sake, please don’t award this contract to FWO. FWO has failed to deliver on Karachi Hyderabad so called Motorway. NHA staff is frightened with Army Uniforms to all the officers and workers. Appeal

    • FWO and One Network: Pakistan’s Glorious Vision for the Future

FWO and One Network are, of course, the magnificent future of all projects in Pakistan roads, buildings, airports, you name it. No project is too grand for their ambitions.

One Network has graciously taken over all motorway tolls across the country. And here’s the brilliantly innovative part: if you’re smart enough to prepay through their app or a One Network booth, you’ll be charged, say, PKR 500. But if you dare to pay in cash like a primitive human being, you’ll be charged PKR 800. Remarkable, isn’t it?

Now, why would they do such a thing? Simple, really. They want you to park your hard-earned money in their system so they can put it to work ,earning bank profits on your balance while you sit there feeling great about your “discount and seamless drive through the toll plaza”

But of course, this kind of financial genius could only happen in Pakistan. Truly, we are blessed.
