The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices for May 2026 in line with higher imported cargo costs.
According to an official notification, OGRA revised LNG prices upward for both Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) systems based on the import cost of four LNG cargoes during the month.
For consumers connected to the SSGC network, the LNG price was increased by US$3.51 per MMBtu, taking the final price to US$16.04 per MMBtu.
Meanwhile, LNG supplied through the SNGPL system became US$3.43 per MMBtu more expensive, with the new notified price reaching US$16.98 per MMBtu.
Pakistan relies heavily on imported LNG to supplement domestic natural gas production, particularly during periods of high demand. Changes in LNG prices therefore have a direct impact on energy sector costs and can influence electricity generation expenses, industrial competitiveness and the country’s import bill.
