The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has launched the “SECP Talk Series,” a new initiative aimed at promoting dialogue on global financial markets, economic developments, technology and regulatory trends as the country seeks to strengthen its financial sector and capital markets.
The inaugural session featured renowned global market strategist Christopher Wood, who shared insights on global economic trends, investor behavior, emerging markets and the outlook for capital markets amid growing geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
The event was attended by SECP commissioners, senior management officials, capital market professionals and employees of the regulator. Participants engaged in discussions covering investment trends, monetary policy developments, technological transformation and the increasing role of emerging economies in shaping the global financial landscape.
Speaking at the event, SECP Commissioner Ali Frid Khawaja said the initiative reflects the regulator’s commitment to continuous learning, intellectual engagement and evidence based policymaking. He noted that Pakistan’s capital markets possess significant long term growth potential and emphasized the importance of staying connected to international financial developments.
Christopher Wood discussed key themes influencing global markets, including investor confidence, monetary policy shifts, geopolitical risks and opportunities available to emerging economies. He also shared perspectives on how evolving global dynamics could shape investment flows and economic growth in developing markets.
The SECP said the Talk Series will continue to host prominent local and international experts as part of efforts to promote knowledge sharing, strengthen institutional capacity and encourage informed discussion on critical economic, financial and regulatory issues.
