Punjab Launches 18 Free Sports Academies for Boys and Girls

Punjab Sports Board will increase the number of its sports academies to 18, with the new facilities expected to become operational during the first week of June 2026.

According to officials, the academies will provide free sports training to more than 2,000 boys and girls in various disciplines across the province. No training fees will be charged from participating athletes.

Director-General Sports Tariq Qureshi said the initiative aims to promote sports talent and prepare a stronger pool of athletes for the future. He added that players enrolled in the academies will also receive free sports kits.

Qureshi said the Punjab Sports Board plans to support outstanding athletes through scholarships and other welfare measures to help them continue their development and achieve higher standards in sports.

The expansion is part of broader efforts to strengthen grassroots sports infrastructure and encourage youth participation in healthy and competitive activities across Punjab.
