Pakistan Customs Enforcement has seized more than 2.5 million litres of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) allegedly being transported to Karachi through the misuse of auction documents belonging to Customs and another law enforcement agency.
Officials describe it as a major crackdown on illegal fuel movement involving oil marketing companies and storage operators.
According to Customs officials, the investigation has named M/S Al-Noor Petroleum Limited, M/S Fuel XL Petroleum Limited, M/S AlRaheem Trading Company, and M/S Caspian Oil in connection with the case.
Authorities believe the fuel was being illegally transported and stored under the cover of manipulated auction documentation. An FIR has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway to determine the full scale of the operation and identify all individuals involved.
In another anti-smuggling operation, the Field Enforcement Unit (FEU) Khuzdar, under the Collectorate of Customs Gadani, intercepted a passenger bus near Pir Umer Police Chowki on the RCD Highway on May 23, 2026, following credible intelligence about the transport of smuggled goods.
During the search of the bus (registration number BSA-058), Customs officials recovered a large quantity of smuggled betel nut concealed inside the vehicle. A total of 948 bags, each weighing 13 kilograms, were seized, bringing the total recovered weight to 12,324 kilograms.
Officials estimated the value of the seized betel nut at approximately Rs. 61.62 million, while the confiscated vehicle was valued at around Rs. 12 million, taking the total case value to nearly Rs. 73.62 million. Further legal proceedings are underway under relevant laws.
Meanwhile, Customs Enforcement Lahore conducted a late-night raid in the city’s busy Truck Adda tyre market in coordination with the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Officials said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb the smuggling of commercial goods into the country.
During the raid, Customs teams reportedly faced resistance from individuals present in the market but managed to bring the situation under control and complete the operation. Authorities seized 1,341 smuggled tyres of assorted sizes and brands, equivalent to seven Mazda truckloads, valued at approximately Rs. 23.2 million.
Customs officials stated that the coordinated operations in Karachi, Khuzdar, and Lahore reflect an intensified nationwide crackdown on smuggling networks and illegal trade activities causing significant losses to the national economy. Investigations are ongoing, and further legal action is expected against those found involved.
