CM Murad Pushes for Timely Completion of Karachi’s BRT Red Line

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed executing agencies and contractors to speed up work on Karachi’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Red Line project and ensure its timely completion, as he continued his personal oversight of major development schemes in the city.

Amid growing criticism over Karachi’s worsening infrastructure and traffic problems, the chief minister made his fifth consecutive Sunday visit to review progress on the BRT Red Line and the newly opened Shahrah-i-Bhutto.

CM Murad Ali Shah was accompanied by Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi, Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan and other senior officials.

The chief minister began his inspection at the Dawood University roundabout and traveled up to Safoora Chowrangi. During the visit, Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon and TransKarachi CEO Zubair Channa briefed him on the progress of the BRT Red Line project from Numaish to Mosamiyat.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah said the Red Line was one of Karachi’s most important urban transport projects and directed all executing agencies and contractors to maintain the pace of work.

“We are personally monitoring the project every Sunday because Karachiites deserve a modern, efficient and environment-friendly transport system,” he said.

The chief minister instructed contractors to increase manpower and machinery wherever required. He also directed all utility agencies to coordinate closely with TransKarachi and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) so relocation work could be completed without unnecessary delays.

Shah also stressed the need for better traffic management and public facilitation during construction. He directed officials to minimize inconvenience to commuters and ensure proper safety measures at all active work sites.
