Many Cities to Experience 7°C Above Normal Temperatures Till End of Month

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a severe heatwave across the country from today until May 31, warning that temperatures may rise 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal levels.

According to the Met Office, several cities in Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab are expected to experience extreme heat during the coming days.

The department said maximum temperatures could reach between 47°C and 50°C in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Mohenjo-daro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Sibi, Turbat, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Multan.

In Karachi, temperatures are expected to remain between 35°C and 38°C during the heatwave period.

The Met Office said the highest temperature recorded on Sunday was 49°C in Dadu. Temperatures reached 48°C in Shaheed Benazirabad and Mohenjo-daro, while Jacobabad, Sakrand, and Larkana recorded 47°C.

Meanwhile, maximum temperatures recorded were 35°C in Karachi and Muzaffarabad, 33°C in Quetta, and 27°C in Gilgit.

Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak daytime hours and stay hydrated amid the intense heatwave conditions.
