Pakistan’s Star All-Rounder Withdraws From LPL 2026 Draft for Major T20 League

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has officially withdrawn from the Lanka Premier League (LPC) 2026 Draft and will instead feature in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026.

Shadab was earlier registered in the Overseas Platinum category for the LPL Draft, making him one of the major overseas names available for selection. However, he will no longer be part of the draft after shifting his focus to MLC.

The move is understood to be driven by a clash in the T20 league schedules during the busy month of July 2026. MLC is scheduled to run from June 12 to July 13, 2026, while the LPL is expected to take place during July and early August, creating an overlap that would have prevented Shadab from participating in both tournaments.

His withdrawal comes as a setback for the LPL Draft, as Shadab remains one of Pakistan’s most experienced T20 players. The all-rounder has been a regular name in franchise cricket because of his leg-spin, lower-order batting, and strong fielding ability.

Despite Shadab Khan’s withdrawal, Pakistani players are still expected to attract strong interest in the draft. Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Usman Khan, Hasan Nawaz, Sufyan Moqim, and Akif Javed are among those available for selection.

Shadab Khan is also set for a busy league schedule in 2026. After his MLC commitment, he is expected to feature for Desert Vipers in the Global Super League (GSL) 2026 scheduled to take place in Guyana from July 23 to August 1.

The Pakistan all-rounder will now miss the LPL Draft but is expected to remain active in franchise cricket through MLC 2026 and the GSL 2026.
