A policy blueprint submitted ahead of the federal budget proposes a Rs. 3 billion National AI Adoption Fund that would help hundreds of Pakistani businesses integrate artificial intelligence into their operations.
Under the proposal, eligible small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could receive grants covering up to 40 percent of AI implementation costs, with funding capped at Rs. 5 million per company, according to private-sector AI consulting firm Densight Labs.
The initiative is expected to support around 600 businesses during its first phase, targeting sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, agriculture technology, retail, and logistics.
Companies receiving support would be required to demonstrate measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency, revenue growth, or cost reduction after deploying AI tools.
The proposal argues that Pakistan’s AI challenge is not only about creating talent but also ensuring businesses actually use it.
Without widespread adoption by local companies, the report warned that the economic benefits promised by artificial intelligence may remain largely theoretical.
