Govt to Decide Major Defense, Energy and Security Spending Package on Friday

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet is set to take up a 19-point financial agenda on June 5, 2026, covering major decisions in defense, energy, development funding, and internal security allocations, according to official documents seen by ProPakistani.

The ECC meeting will be chaired by the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue at the Finance Division and will review technical supplementary grants, PSDP adjustments, compensation packages, and strategic funding requests from various ministries.

The committee will also consider a Rs. 7.026 billion restoration for the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Program (SAP) through a technical supplementary grant for FY2025–26.

Other major items include defence financing for the Hangor submarine project under Pakistan Navy’s long-term modernization program (RAFDP–2030), as well as operational funding requests for counter-terrorism and maritime enforcement.

The agenda also features compensation for victims of a bomb blast at an Imambargah in Tarla, Islamabad, and multiple security and operational allocations for Interior Division agencies, including NACTA, Pakistan Land Ports Authority, and fast patrol boat procurement for anti-trawling operations.

In the energy and financial sectors, the ECC will examine proposals for a syndicated running finance facility for PSO, settlement arrangements under the Pakistan Oil Refining Policy 2023 involving Cnergyico PK Limited, and operational continuity of existing energy transmission frameworks.

Media and communication-related funding is also on the table, including a Rs. 3 billion grant for Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) and supplementary allocations for the Special Communication Organization (SCO), alongside budget approvals for IPO-Pakistan and parliamentary affairs funding.

Infrastructure and development items include placement of PSDP and SAP funds for Karachi–Hyderabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa packages into PIDCL accounts, as well as Rs. 1.3 billion for modernization of Pakistan Mint (Phase-IIA).
