The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has intensified its crackdown on vehicles using fake, cloned, and tampered number plates through its AI-powered surveillance system.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, Safe City’s advanced monitoring technology identified and traced more than 170 suspicious and cloned vehicles during the past month.
The authority said its automated alert system detects suspicious or unregistered number plates in real time. Once a vehicle is flagged, the system immediately shares the information with nearby police units for quick action.
PSCA added that blacklisted and crime-linked vehicles are also being continuously monitored through digital surveillance tools. The initiative is aimed at helping law enforcement agencies prevent crime and track suspicious movements across the city.
The authority warned citizens that using fake or tampered number plates is a punishable offense and may result in FIR registration and legal proceedings.
Citizens have been advised to use only original and officially registered number plates to avoid legal action.

170 is a joke. As a daily commuter wardens 90 percent target bikers and intensionally ignore the cars with jet black tints, fancy number plates, illegal HIDs and high beam. Number of car violations still increasing. Even on motorways green number plates speeding more than 140+ and never stopped by anyone.
