Spain Introduces New Regularization Policy for Undocumented Migrants

Spain has introduced a new regularization policy allowing certain undocumented immigrants already residing in the country to apply for legal status under specific conditions, according to guidance issued by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment.

The policy applies only to individuals who were present in Spain before January 1, 2026, and who meet the eligibility criteria set by Spanish authorities.

Migrants who enter Spain after this date will not be eligible for regularization under the scheme.

Officials have clarified that there are currently no plans for a similar regularization program in the near future. The last such initiative in Spain was implemented in 2005.

The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has urged Pakistani citizens to avoid falling prey to illegal migration agents, warning that irregular travel routes to Spain could result in financial loss and serious personal risk.

Authorities emphasized that only lawful migration channels should be used for travel and employment opportunities abroad.
