The National Economic Council (NEC) is scheduled to meet on Monday, June 8, 2026, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to an official communication from the Cabinet Division.
The meeting will focus on key economic planning and investment decisions for the upcoming fiscal year, including a review of the Annual Plan for FY2025–26 and approval of the proposed Annual Plan for FY2026–27.
It will also include a presentation on key socio-economic indicators across provinces.
The council is expected to review the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for FY2025–26 and consider proposed investment plans for FY2026–27, along with confirmation of adjustments made during the current year through various official approvals and revisions.
Provincial governments will also present updates on their Annual Development Plans (ADPs), with Chief Secretaries from all provinces invited to participate in the session.
The agenda also includes a progress review of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) from April 2025 to March 2026, covering schemes approved by both CDWP and the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) during the period.
A monitoring and evaluation report on major development projects will also be presented to the council as part of the session’s review process.
The Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, in his capacity as Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, will present the opening briefing to the NEC.
