The government has sent summaries for convening sessions of both the National Assembly and the Senate as preparations continue for the presentation of the federal budget for fiscal year 2026-27.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said a summary has been forwarded proposing that the National Assembly meet on June 10 at 5:00 pm, while a separate summary has been sent for a Senate session at 4:00 pm on the same day.
He said the federal budget is now expected to be presented on June 12, following recent discussions within the government regarding the budget schedule. Reports have indicated that the budget presentation may be postponed from its previously planned date as authorities continue consultations on key fiscal measures and budgetary allocations.
The upcoming budget is expected to outline the government’s revenue measures, expenditure priorities, development spending plans, and broader economic strategy for the next fiscal year.
The budget is also being finalized in consultation with the International Monetary Fund as the government works to align fiscal targets and policy measures.
