You Can Take Xiaomi’s Coffee Machine Anywhere And Make 400 Cups With a Single Charge

Xiaomi has introduced its first portable coffee maker under the Mijia brand. The Mijia Portable Coffee Machine is a battery-powered espresso device built for travel, camping, office use, and other situations where a regular espresso machine is not practical.

The device works like a compact espresso machine but comes in a body that looks similar to a vacuum flask.

Design and Build

The Mijia Portable Coffee Machine measures 24.5cm in height and 7.15cm in width. Xiaomi designed it to fit inside a backpack or a car cup holder.

The exterior has an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance, giving it protection against light rain, splashes, and outdoor use.

The brewing chamber is fully detachable, so users can rinse it after use.

Xiaomi includes several accessories in the box, including a carrying case, an aluminum alloy stand, a metal coffee basket, a scoop, and a double-wall stainless steel cup.

Brewing System

The coffee machine uses a 20-bar electromagnetic pump for extraction.

It also has a dual-compatible brewing chamber, allowing users to switch between standard coffee capsules and freshly ground coffee.

For temperature control, Xiaomi uses a ceramic heating element and a PID algorithm. The system keeps the water temperature at 92°C.

The machine supports both hot and cold extraction. A standard brew cycle takes around 45 seconds.

Battery and Charging

The Mijia Portable Coffee Machine is powered by three 2,500 mAh batteries, giving it a total battery capacity of 7,500 mAh.

It charges through a 45W USB-C port. Xiaomi says the battery can charge from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes, while a full charge takes around 80 minutes.

The machine can also be powered directly through a standard portable power bank.

Battery life depends on whether users rely on the internal heater. If pre-heated water is used, the machine only uses battery power for the extraction pump and can make up to 400 cups on a single charge.

If room-temperature water is used and the built-in ceramic heater warms it, battery life drops sharply to just over three cups per charge.

Price and Availability

The Mijia Portable Coffee Machine has a standard retail price of 799 yuan, which is around $118.

It will first be available in China through a crowdfunding campaign on Xiaomi Mall and Xiaomi Youpin starting June 17.

Since Xiaomi gadgets are starting to reach Pakistan more often, there is a chance that it will arrive in the local market as well.
