The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has launched a new system to evaluate and rank affiliated medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy and allied health sciences institutions across Punjab.
The initiative introduces annual rankings based on teaching quality, assessment standards, clinical training, faculty development, research output and student support services. Institutions will also undergo regular academic audits and reviews to assess compliance with approved curricula.
UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore said the move is aimed at raising educational standards and strengthening oversight of health sciences institutions.
To implement the system, UHS has assigned its Department of Medical Education responsibility for academic quality assurance and curriculum monitoring. The university also plans to develop a real-time dashboard to track institutional performance indicators.
Under the policy, top-performing institutions may receive recognition and greater opportunities for academic collaboration, research projects and faculty development activities. Colleges that continue to perform poorly will face closer monitoring and corrective measures.
The new framework has taken effect immediately and applies to all constituent and affiliated institutions of UHS in Punjab.
