Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday inaugurated the newly built Azeempura Flyover, opening it to traffic and marking the completion of a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity in Karachi.
The flyover is expected to facilitate traffic movement between Shahrah-i-Bhutto, Shah Faisal Colony, Sharea Faisal and Jinnah International Airport.
Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Shah, Sindh Assembly Speaker Awais Qadir Shah and Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab attended the inauguration ceremony.
The project was launched on March 8 and completed on June 8 by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) with funding from the Local Government Department. Officials said the flyover was completed in 90 days, ahead of the 100-day target, at a cost of Rs. 1.562 billion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Murad said the project would improve mobility for commuters travelling between Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir, Shahrah-i-Bhutto and Karachi Airport.
He said the flyover would help reduce congestion at one of Karachi’s busiest intersections by providing direct access from Shahrah-i-Bhutto to Shah Faisal Colony, Sharea Faisal and the airport.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab said the project reflects the city administration’s efforts to improve urban infrastructure and public services.
