The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the Regional Inter-District U19 One-Day tournament will begin on Monday, June 15, with 103 districts and zones from across the country taking part.
More than 1,600 U19 men’s players will be in action during June and July in the 50-over red-ball tournament. The participating teams have been divided across 16 regions according to their regional structure.
The winner in each region will receive Rs. 200,000, while the runner-up will take home Rs. 100,000.
The tournament will start in Multan and Larkana on Monday, followed by Karachi and Dera Murad Jamali on Tuesday. Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, and Hyderabad will begin their matches on Thursday.
PCB said the schedule for the remaining regions will be announced after the completion of fitness tests.
The tournament will provide young players with an important platform to push for professional cricket. Top performers will be considered for the formation of 18 regional U19 teams, which will be finalized from district and zonal sides in late July and early August for the upcoming season.
Players will also be looking to impress selectors ahead of Pakistan men’s U19 tour of England, scheduled from September 2 to September 16 later this year. The tour will include one Youth Test and four Youth ODIs.
