Pioneer Cement Limited has approved the installation of a 28.265 MW solar power plant at its manufacturing facility in Khushab as part of its strategy to reduce energy costs and strengthen operational efficiency.
In a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday, the company said its Board of Directors had approved the solar project at its plant located in Chenki, Jauharabad, District Khushab.
The company expects the solar power plant to be commissioned and begin commercial operations during the second quarter of fiscal year 2026-27.
Pioneer Cement said the investment reflects its continued commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and long term value creation for shareholders. The company expects the project to generate significant savings in energy costs, which remain a key expense for cement manufacturers.
The investment will be financed entirely through the company’s internal cash flows, according to the disclosure.
The latest project is part of a broader trend across Pakistan’s cement sector, where manufacturers are increasingly investing in renewable energy projects to reduce dependence on grid electricity and mitigate the impact of rising energy costs on profitability.
