Kohat Cement Clarifies Reports of Court Halt on 28.5MW Coal Power Project

Kohat Cement Company Limited (PSX: KOHC) has clarified that the Peshawar High Court has not ordered a halt to work on its ongoing 28.5 MW Coal Fired Power Plant Project (CFPP), rejecting reports suggesting otherwise.

In a disclosure submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company said the clarification was issued in response to a news report published on July 10, 2026, regarding court proceedings related to the project.

According to Kohat Cement, the Peshawar High Court has not issued any order suspending construction or operations of the coal-fired power plant.

The company said work on the project is continuing in accordance with the required approvals of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The company added that the court directed the plant’s operations to remain subject to EPA approval, describing this as a standard legal requirement under Pakistan’s environmental laws rather than a restriction specific to the project.

Kohat Cement reiterated that the project will be developed and operated in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standard operating procedures issued by the competent authorities, including the EPA.

The company said the disclosure was issued to “set the record straight” regarding the court proceedings.
