The Punjab government has announced special healthcare measures for journalists and their families through the Lahore Press Club (LPC).
Punjab Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir made the announcement during his visit to the Lahore Press Club, where he was received by LPC President Arshad Ansari, General Secretary Afzal Talib, and Governing Body Member Sajjad Kazmi.
During the visit, the minister inaugurated the “Clinic on Wheels” service for the journalist community. He said journalists would receive free medical check-ups, medicines, and basic diagnostic services under the initiative.
Nazir also announced that registration has started for the home delivery of insulin and medicines for journalists. He said the Insulin Home Delivery Program would benefit deserving and registered journalists directly.
The minister said the steps were being taken under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the welfare and well-being of journalists. He added that journalists are the eyes and ears of society, and protecting their health is the government’s responsibility.
He further announced that two Maryam Nawaz Clinics would be established in the Journalists’ Colony. A visit to the colony will soon be conducted to identify a suitable location for the construction of a medical clinic building.
Nazir said the clinic building would be constructed on an urgent basis, after which modern medical equipment would be installed to provide advanced and high-quality healthcare services.
He assured that the Health Department would extend full support to improve medical treatment facilities for journalists. He also pledged support for upgrading the dispensary at the Press Club and ensuring the provision of medicines.
