Tax Officers Seal Lahore Coffee Chain ‘Double Shot’

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has sealed multiple branches of popular coffee chain Double Shot across Lahore over alleged misreporting of sales data and violations of electronic invoicing rules, according to an official order seen by ProPakistani.

In a sealing order under Section 59A of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012, the authority stated that the business registered under PNTN H053642 was found to have allegedly bypassed the mandatory Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS) and under-declared its taxable sales.

Tax officers observed that invoices were allegedly being issued outside the EIMS framework despite its installation at the business premises. PRA stated that invoices dated June 11, 2026 were also found to have been allegedly generated in violation of the system, which is designed to ensure real-time tax reporting.

The authority said such practices “deprive the government of legitimate revenue” and constitute willful non-compliance under provincial tax law.

PRA further stated that a review of records showed a mismatch between actual sales and declared sales in tax returns. The company was “suppressing taxable turnover” and under-reporting its revenue in official filings, PRA added.

Which Branches Were Sealed?

As part of the enforcement action, the following Double Shot branches were ordered to be sealed:

  • Gulberg branch
  • Falcon Complex, Cantt branch
  • C Block, Model Town branch
  • DHA Phase-6 branch
  • Lalak Jan Chowk, DHA Phase-2 branch
  • Pine Avenue branch
  • Dolmen Mall branch

The order directed that all listed premises be sealed immediately and remain closed until full compliance is ensured or for a maximum period of one month, whichever comes earlier.

Founder’s Statement

On social media, The founder of Double Shot Ali Chughtai issued a brief statement confirming the closure of his company’s operations. He said the branches would remain shut for now and would resume service “very soon”. Updates would be shared with customers, he added.

“We are not only law-abiding citizens but were working to make Pakistan a better place for everyone. Apologies for the inconvenience suffered and we hope that it lapses very soon. Thank you very much for your time. We look forward to hosting you again very very soon,” he added.

The situation has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many users circulating the closure notice and company statement.

Authorities have not yet announced any final decision beyond the enforcement action, and further inquiries are expected, sources added.
