Karachi to Get More Double-Decker, Electric Buses This Year

Karachi is set to receive a major boost to its public transport network as a large number of double-decker and electric buses are expected to arrive in the city this year, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Monday.

He said the new buses will be introduced gradually on various routes, expanding transport options for residents and strengthening the city’s public transit system.

Memon said the expansion comes after the successful operation of the People’s Bus Service and reflects the Sindh government’s continued focus on improving urban mobility in Karachi.

He noted that the upcoming electric buses will offer commuters a cleaner and more affordable mode of transport while helping reduce environmental pollution. The addition of more double-decker buses, he added, will further enhance the city’s transport landscape and provide a unique travel experience for passengers.

The senior minister said the initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize Karachi and improve public services, describing the arrival of the new buses as another step toward developing a more efficient and sustainable transport system for the city.
