Anthropic is Paying $85,000 Salary to Young Professionals to Learn AI

Anthropic has launched Claude Corps, a 12-month fellowship program for early-career workers who want to use AI for social-impact work.

The program will pay fellows $85,000 per year and place them inside nonprofits, government agencies, and public-interest organizations. The first cohort will begin on October 19, 2026.

Claude Corps Fellowship

Claude Corps is a partnership involving Anthropic, CodePath, and Social Finance. Anthropic said it will teach 1,000 fellows how to use Claude and match them with organizations across the United States. The company has committed an initial $150 million to the program.

The first cohort will place about 100 fellows at host organizations, while the remaining fellows will join later cohorts beginning in January 2027 and August 2027.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must be 18 or older and have less than two years of full-time work experience.

There is no minimum education requirement, and applicants do not need a computer science degree or a technical background.

Anthropic said applicants should already use AI tools in daily life or work and should have taken action on a cause, community, or problem they care about.

Applicants must also be authorized to work in the United States and willing to relocate if needed. The program does not offer visa sponsorship.

What Fellows Will Do

Fellows will work full-time at a host organization for one year. They will build AI tools, automations, internal systems, integrations and other solutions using Claude.

They will also train teams at host organizations and help staff continue using the tools after the fellowship ends.

The official job listing says Anthropic is looking for “utility players” who can build, teach, scope and translate AI work for organizations with limited technical experience.

Training And Support

The fellowship begins with an intensive training period.

After that, fellows will spend about five hours each week on structured training, while the rest of their time will be spent on project work at the host organization.

Fellows will receive support from a CodePath mentor, Anthropic office hours for technical questions, a national cohort of peers, and guidance from managers at host organizations.

Each fellow will also receive up to $2,500 in Claude API credits for approved host organization projects.

Pay And Benefits

Claude Corps fellows will be full-time CodePath employees. They will receive a salary of $85,000 per year, paid twice a month.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays, flexible paid time off, life and disability insurance, and additional benefits including FSA, EAP, and pet insurance.

Application Process

The application includes a short form, two Anthropic courses on AI fluency and Claude, and two short-answer questions.

The official job listing says applicants must complete both AI Fluency and Claude 101 before applying and submit proof of completion with their application.

Candidates who move forward will complete a take-home assessment, a 25-minute conversation, and a final round of two interviews.

Selected fellows will then interview with two to three host organizations before placement.

Deadline

Applications for the first cohort are due by July 17, 2026. Applications will remain open on a rolling basis for the January 2027 and August 2027 cohorts.

Anthropic said the program is designed to help fellows build practical AI skills while helping mission-driven organizations use Claude to support their work.
