Karachi Airport on High Alert as Dust Storm and Rain Expected

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has directed different departments at Jinnah Terminal Airport to remain on alert after the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast dust-laden winds and thunderstorms with rain in the city.

According to PAA officials, the weather department has predicted dusty winds and rain in Karachi. In response to the expected unusual weather conditions, the authority has issued precautionary instructions to ensure safe airport operations.

As part of the safety measures, operational preparedness has been ordered at Karachi Airport. Authorities have directed officials to move fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft parked on the apron and tarmac to safe locations. Loose equipment must also be secured to prevent any damage or operational disruption.

The authority has further instructed officials to inspect electrical installations and cables. Follow-me vehicles have also been ordered to remain fully functional.

In addition, airport officials have been directed to ensure the serviceability of airfield lights and pits.

All relevant departments have been instructed to closely monitor the weather situation and take all necessary precautionary measures to ensure safe flight operations at Karachi Airport.
