Pakistani Freelancers Earn $1.6 Billion in 11 Months

Pakistan’s freelancers have achieved a major milestone, generating record export earnings of $1.6 billion in the first 11 months of FY26, Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad posted on X today.

He said freelance exports surged by around 80 percent year-on-year, reflecting rapid growth in Pakistan’s digital services sector.

In May 2026 alone, freelancers reportedly earned $169 million, marking an 87 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

Pakistani freelancers are now increasingly active in global technology, creative, and digital service markets, contributing significantly to foreign exchange inflows. Khurram described the performance as evidence of Pakistan’s rising competitiveness and expanding participation in the global digital economy.
